  • In the tradition of David Lynch and Stephen King comes the story of a young woman dealing with the insanity of the world around her. Meet Ginger, a twenty-something office girl that lives her life one boring day at a time — until on her wedding night, her new husband tries to kill her...and it goes horribly wrong! This is a story of revenge, lust, violence, and insanity brought to you by Jimmy Palmiotti (Jonah Hex, Painkiller Jane) and featuring the art of Artiz Eiguren, as well as a cover by award-winning illustrator Sas Christian.

Queen Crab Jimmy Palmiotti Artiz Eiguren Books

Jimmy Palmiotti, long time inker known for his work on a huge variety of titles from Preacher to The Punisher to Jonah Hex, writes this short graphic novel. A woman named Ginger, soon to be married and doubting her future path, finds herself in quite a predicament...and that doesn't even include the fact that she starts growing crab claws. I don't want to give anything else away, other than the fact that Queen Crab is an interesting and brisk little dirge that delivers the goods. Palmiotti's story is poignant and his dialogue is nice, while the artwork from Artiz Eiguren is solid. All in all, Queen Crab is a fun little comic that deserves to be checked out, and makes you wish that Jimmy Palmiotti unleashed his writing talents more often.

Queen Crab Jimmy Palmiotti Artiz Eiguren Books Reviews

If your comic fa and are looking for something other than superheroes then I highly reccomend Queen Crab.

When reading this I was thinking thins would have made a great Twilight Zone episode(original series). Hang on here there might some slighly spoilers here.

Ginger while going on her honeymoon finds herself thrown overboard but can't swim and she sinks. Then suddenly awakes on a beach not only naked but her arms are now crab claws.

I won't tell you what happens next. You need to fnd out for yourself.

So why the comparision to the Twilight Zone. What the Zone did beautifuly was take ordinary people and put the in extrodinary situations. And it wasn't the situation that drove the stories but how these regular everyday people handle said situation.

And that the beauty of Queen Crab. Ginger is like most of us. Not excactly happy with our lives but just except it. There are no cliches here. How she deals with this is how I think most of us would. And following Gingers journey is like taking a glimpse into our lives(minus the crab claws).

Jimmy Palmiotti who has written for the likes of Marvel, DC has written Ginger as a real person. And he makes us feel like we know her and doing care about what happens. Like I said there are no cliche here.

Add that to the simply beautiful art by Artiz Eiguren. I have never seen his work before but I will be looking for it in the future. The world he draws looks like the world outside your window. Real.

Just so you know there is nudity and foul language. But it just adds to the world.

As I said if your a comic fan and looking outside of the worlds of tights and super powers Queen Crab is just what the Doctor order. You won't be sorry you picked this up.
After seeing such praise for this Graphic Novel and the amount of great reviews on , I decided to purchase this. How could I go wrong with so many great reviews and I am a huge fan of Jimmy Palmiotti - this will be awesome.

Then I got it. The art work was great, but the story? What to say about the story, or lack of one? The other reviewers talk about character development and it being David Lynch-esque. Not true. I am a huge Lynch fan and found this nothing like something Lynch would do and the story leaves a lot to be desired.

It was okay at best - I wanted more. It's short, there is no closure really on what befalls the main character, which makes you want more and there is no more. I think I would have enjoyed this more if it wasn't hyped up so much. I was going in expecting something great, but all I got was a book that was okay and worth a once over.
The ending wasn't great. The illustrations were great, but I got overly excited thinking the story was going to be much bigger and larger.. It sank!
To get this out of the way, this book is for adults. It was easy to read but enjoyable. There are some breaks in between that did not flow well but what made up for that there was no twist or an attempt to create a twist in the story when sometimes a reader just wants a story.

The write did not much do much explaining at all into certain details of situations you want answers for. In which the normal reader would probably be let down for this. So if you are used to getting a "twist" in shows and books then you might not like this.
